  • University of Valladolid (UVa) – Energy, Economy and System Dynamics Group (GEEDS)

The Energy, Economy and System Dynamics Group (GEEDS) at the University of Valladolid is composed of a group of professors and researchers with previous experience in environmental issues and personal involvement in ecology and development cooperation. Their lines of research focus on energy and economics as key drivers of technology and life, and on system dynamics as the most appropriate tool for analysing the complex relationships between the variables that influence sustainability and development, with a systemic vision. The group GEEDS from the University of Valladolid is in charge of the modelling part of the project. In particular, the team will develop a system dynamics model of the local case studies, capitalising on the experience accumulated over the years in the past (MEDEAS) and in ongoing (LOCOMOTION) international projects in which the group had and has a leading modelling role.

INRAE, the French National Institute for Research on Agriculture, Food and the Environment, has the mission to support the ecological transition of agricultural and food systems. Our team is part of UMR ITAP (Technologies and Methods for the Agriculture of Tomorrow) and part of the ELSA (Environmental Life cycle and Sustainability Assessment) group. Our focus is to model agro-bio-processes and develop environmental and social assessment methods to improve the completeness and robustness of the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method. Our work provides new knowledge on the environmental and social performances of agri-food chains and territories in order to eco-design them. INRAE is representing a French case study (CS2) in the RethinkAction project (WP6) and is focusing on developing the Key performance Indicators (WP4) to assess the trade-offs and benefits of using land use-based adaptation and mitigation solutions (LAMS). In addition, INRAE will be involved in the development of the local model (WP5) to represent the case study in the Occitanie region (South of France).
