The RethinkAction MOOC

The RethinkAction MOOC is a free, flexible online course designed to equip local governments, policymakers, planners, and engaged citizens with the skills to integrate science-based land-use strategies into climate action. Through five modules of short, accessible video lessons and quizzes you will learn to collect and downscale climate data, create high-resolution land-use and suitability maps, explore a catalogue of 62 land-use based adaptation and mitigation solutions (LAMS), conduct stakeholder-informed risk assessments, and use system dynamics modeling to test policy scenarios at local and global scales. The course culminates in hands-on guidance for navigating the RethinkAction Integrated Assessment Platform, where users can simulate policies, evaluate co-benefits and trade-offs, and explore EU and global climate strategies. By the end, participants will be able to connect data, models, and participatory approaches to co-design actionable land-use solutions that advance both adaptation and mitigation goals.
