On 15th and 16th October 2024, the partners from the RethinkAction consortium met in Budapest for their annual project meeting, hosted by our Hungarian partners from Geonardo Environmental Technologies. This was the third of its kind and marks the kick-off of the final year in the 4-year funding period. Accordingly, there were many important updates from the work packages and equally many things to be decided for near future activities.

Among the Work Package updates, the partners reviewed the most recent interactions with stakeholders in the Case Study regions. These workshops were a follow up to the stakeholder interactions held at the end of 2023 and beginning of 2024, and focused specifically on the influence of factors - like drivers and barriers, as well as social acceptance - on the implementation of the Land-use based Adaptation and Mitigation Solutions (LAMS) in the case study regions.

Furthermore, the progress of the Integrated Assessment Platform, along with the climate models that support it, were part of our discussion. The platform development has come a long way and we look forward to invite the end user community to review it with us, based on factors such as functionality and usability.

The meeting was also a valuable opportunity to look ahead, particularly with regards to strategies to expand the project’s impact and applying its methodology in other regions beyond the funding period.

As RethinkAction enters its final phase, it’s exciting to see all the pieces coming together and shaping the future direction of the project.

Finally, we also left our mark at the iconic Szimpla Kert with our unofficial motto, “RETHINK, ACT, AND DELIVER,” now on display!
